Shared Photo Album for Birthday Parties: Collect Everyone's Photos in One Place
Someone always gets the best shot of the birthday person blowing out the candles. Someone else captures the group laughing at the speech. Your cousin gets the candid of everyone piling in for the photo.
Those three people are all going home tonight. Most of those photos won't make it to you.
A shared photo album fixes this. Here's how to set one up for a birthday party in under five minutes.

Birthday parties are exactly the right size for this. Small enough to be personal, big enough that photos scatter.
Why birthday parties lose so many photos
Birthday parties are informal. Nobody's coordinating who's taking photos. Guests pull out their phones, take pictures, put them away. Later, a few end up in a WhatsApp message. The rest stay in camera rolls.
The gap isn't goodwill — guests are happy to share. The gap is friction. Asking people to text you photos later means they have to remember to do it, find the right photos, and actually send them. Most don't.
A QR code on the snack table catches people at the right moment: phone in hand, photo just taken, zero effort required to contribute.

Two minutes of setup means you spend zero time chasing photos afterward.
What to look for in a birthday party photo app
No app download. Birthday guests span ages and devices. Anyone who has to visit the App Store first probably won't.
No account creation. Asking guests to sign up for a service at a birthday party is too much friction. It should work immediately.
Easy to share the link or QR code. You want something you can print on a card or text in the group chat with one tap.
Download everything at the end. The whole point is keeping the photos. You need a way to export the full album as a single download.

The free plan covers most birthday parties. If your list is longer, Standard handles up to 30 guests for 15€.
Setting up Calisto for a birthday party
Go to calisto.app/en and create a new event. Enter the birthday person's name and the party date.
Choose your plan. The free plan works well for parties up to 5 guests and 20 photos. For larger parties, Standard (15€) covers 30 guests and 150 photos — plenty for most birthday celebrations.
Download the QR code or copy the join link.
Display the QR code somewhere visible at the party. A printed card near the food, drinks, or cake table works well. You can also share the join link in your party group chat before the day.
That's it. Guests scan, upload, and photos appear in the shared gallery in real time.

Print the QR code, tape it to the snack table, forget about it. The album fills itself.
How many guests can you invite?
| Plan | Price | Photos | Videos | Guests |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| Free | 0€ | 20 | 0 | 5 |
| Standard | 15€ | 150 | 10 | 30 |
| Plus | 35€ | 500 | 50 | 100 |
For a birthday party, Standard covers most situations. A party of 20–30 people generating 100–150 photos is very typical. If you're planning a larger milestone celebration (40th, 50th, big family reunion), Plus gives you room for videos and a longer guest list.

One gallery, everyone's angles. The photos you couldn't take because you were too busy hosting.
Downloading all photos after the party
Once the party's over, go to your Calisto organizer dashboard and click "Download all." The full gallery exports as a ZIP file — every photo and video your guests contributed. You'll get an email link when it's ready.
After the party, your photos are stored for 7–365 days depending on your plan. Download them before the retention window closes.

You handled the decorations and the cake. Let the album handle itself.
FAQ
Can guests upload videos, not just photos?
Yes, on paid plans. Standard includes 10 videos, Plus includes 50. The free plan is photos only.
Do guests need to be invited in advance?
No. Anyone with the join code or link can contribute. Share it the day of if you like.
What if the birthday person wants to see the photos too?
Share the join link with them as well. Guests and the birthday person can all browse the gallery once they're in — everyone sees every photo in real time.
Can I use this for a kids' birthday party?
Yes. Parents typically do the uploading rather than the kids, which works the same way. If parents are comfortable sharing the link, they can participate just like any other guest.
What happens to the photos if I don't download them?
The album is automatically deleted when your plan's retention window ends (7 days on the free plan, 30 days on Standard). Download the ZIP before then to keep all the photos.
